Here at Jurnfern Art, our mission is to celebrate Black beauty and talent in the fashion industry. Each of our illustrations is inspired by a Black individual making a name for themselves in fashion. Therefore, in the spirit of celebrating, as part of our Milan Fashion Week coverage we are highlighting 5 breakout Black models from the Spring 2022 runways. Keep reading to learn more about these Black beauties!
Scarlet Peguero
Scarlet Peguero had a breakout season in Milan this Fall, walking for her first major clients including Fendi. She has also starred in a handful of beautiful editorials and campaigns. After this season, it is clear she is just getting started!
Elisa Loehr
Elisa Loehr has done several amazing magazine editorials and brand campaigns in the last year for brands like Miu Miu and Zara, but she really emerged during Milan Fashion Week this Fall, walking for several major clients before heading to Paris Fashion Week. Having established herself in advertising and print work, this season Loehr really made her mark in the runway arena.
Gibril Igale
The Milan Fashion Week Spring 2022 season was Gibril Igale's debut into RTW runway, and Milan runways specifically. She walked her first show for Blumarine. Igale has already nailed her characteristic walk with a peppy, bouncy step. She also landed her first magazine cover in the Spring of this year, pictured above.
Victoria Fawole
Victoria Fawole has previously walked for couture shows and modeled in a handful of editorials for major fashion magazines. But, Milan was really her breakout RTW runway season as she walked for many big clients including Max Mara, Jil Sander, and Prada.
Shivaruby Premkanthan
Shivaruby Premkanthan has done many edgy, eye-catching editorials in the past year, but Milan was her major runway season debut. She walked for a few shows at London Fashion Week before heading to Milan where she really broke out and walked for many clients. Her look is incredibly unique, and she comes from a diverse background of Jamaican and Sri Lankan heritage.
